Credit for Prior Learning Scholarship Models
What is the T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood Credit for Prior Learning Scholarship?
The purpose of this scholarship is to give child care providers, especially those who have attained either a National CDA credential or completed quality in-service training, the opportunity to earn some college credit for their prior learning efforts and explore college education as a possible next step.
What does the scholarship cover?
The scholarship covers the costs of the prior learning credits as well as tuition and books for one additional college course (up to three credits). In addition, there is a $100.00 bonus award upon completion of the scholarship contract.
Eligibility

Be a U.S. citizen or legal resident

Work in Minnesota

Have a high school diploma or GED

Work directly with children at least 15 hours per week for a minimum of 780 hours per year

*Be employed by your current program or working under your current family childcare license for at least 6 months at the time of application

Agree to continue working at least one additional year beyond your contract year, at your current child care or school-age care program.

Be granted acceptance into a Minnesota college that offers credit for prior learning;

Be willing to transfer in CDA or prior trainings for college credit and take one additional early childhood college course;

Work directly with children at least 15 hours per week in a year round program

*One contract consists of three semesters or four quarters. Example, if you were awarded in the spring your contract would consist of (semesters) spring, summer and fall or (quarters) winter, spring, summer and fall.
