Licensing & Requirements
Family Child Care homes are licensed by each county; Child Care centers are licensed by the Minnesota Department of Human Services (651) 296-3971.
State licensing regulations are aimed at protecting the health and safety of children and promoting healthy child development. While enforcement of licensing rules is key to protecting children, DHS and county agencies are flexible in working with providers to provide flexibility and consider alternatives appropriate for children in each program.
