Not By Chance Updates

Gail Mahr

By now it is no secret that the old Family Day Care Rating Scale has been replaced by the FCCERS (Family Child Care Environment Rating Scale). What you may not know however, is that the Network still has a supply of the FDCRS books. We would like to use these books and will therefore supply them for Not By Chance Foundations of Quality and Tools to Create Quality (foundational and awareness level) trainings until they are gone. Participants in the Quality in Practice for Family Child Care Environments (in-depth) NBC classes will receive the new FCCERS.  Materials are currently being developed that will integrate the new FCCERS into NBC curriculum materials.

Also, NBC trainers can look forward to updated material and information about Parent Aware: Minnesota’s Quality Rating System. As Parent Aware has quickly evolved, it has been challenging to keep timely and current information available to trainers. Now that the program has been launched in the pilot areas and is well underway, it’s time to bring you up to date. You have such an important role in helping providers prepare for Parent Aware.  Look for an email containing this information soon!
