Program for Infant/Toddler Care (ITTI) Trainers Updates Happy 20th Birthday PITC! In commemoration of PITC's 20th anniversary, WestEd has announced the publication of “Concepts for Care: 20 Essays on Infant/Toddler Development and Learning.” Leading experts in infant/toddler development have contributed essays drawn from research, theory, clinical case studies and practice. Each essay represents current thinking in the field of infant/toddler development and care. The essays provide a springboard for reflection, discussion and further exploration for infant/toddler professionals seeking to enhance their programs, and for students in the early care and education field. To order visit www.wested.org Work continues on standardizing the language for the PITC curriculum lessons, as mentioned in the last edition of “Trainer News.” With the Modules and Lessons, lots of creativity has been used toward combining lessons and using inventive titles for CCR&R trainings. While we love that creative spark, providers can be challenged in their needs assessment and training plans if the content and objectives are not clear in training descriptions. Therefore, we will be asking all CCR&Rs to utilize the standard titles given in the training curriculum, including module and lesson number(s), and standard session descriptions based on language from the curriculum. Also, in an effort to support the use of the Core Competencies, we will want to be including competency-based training objectives into all training descriptions. Our goal is to continue to allow room for individualized training offerings and, at the same time, give providers enough information. For example, when providers are offered consistent information about content area, modules and lessons that they will be able to avoid unintentionally taking the same training (PITC Lesson/s) twice.
