Emotions in Your Workshops

Learning depends on emotions, how we respond to these can make or break not only a discussion but also a student's desire to be a part of the group. When emotions run wild a very important relationship can break which can distract from a students ability to learn.

Start with Introductions, name, where are you from, projects you train for…

  • What are some examples of emotions you encounter in your workshops?

  • Are there some topics that you anticipate emotions may be higher? What do you to prepare?

  • What are the pros and cons of emotions in your workshops?

  • What strategies do you use when negative emotions rise?

  • Given the importance of positive emotional response towards learning, what strategies do you use to elicit positive feelings?

  • What individual supports can you provide to the participant?

  • What supports do you need in order to support the emotional side of learning?

  • Other questions or comments???
