Curriculum Revisions Underway A few minor revisions/additions are being planned for the Not By Chance training, particularly the Quality in Practice version of the Early Childhood Indicators of Progress. In addition, the rest of the curriculum is being scanned to determine if changes/additions need to be made to include updated information about the QRS pilot. Any and all revisions will be sent to the appropriate trainers when they are available. They will also be reviewed at the Not By Chance trainer gathering on April 27. Stay tuned . . . Quality in Practice Trainings and the Applause Program The eight hour, multi-session, in-depth trainings of the Not By Chance curriculum have been scheduled and are being delivered in communities across the state and online! Each of these trainings allows providers to learn more about and participate in some implementation activities on each of the following tools: The Early Childhood Indicators of Progress; The Family Day Care Environment Rating Scale, The Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale, The School-Age Environment Rating Scale and the Infant Toddler Environment Rating Scale. So far, registration and attendance at these training has been excellent, and we are waiting to hear about participant and instructor reaction to the longer, higher-level trainings. As an incentive for child care providers to complete the longer, more expensive training sessions, the Minnesota CCR&R Network has introduced the Applause Incentive Program. The CCR&R Network is offering $50 gift certificates for Kaplan to the first 100 participants who turn in their training completion certificates along with a short survey. If you are training one of the Quality in Practice trainings, be sure to hand out the notice about the Applause Program to your students. Your CCR&R Professional Development Coordinator will provide the flyer and survey to you. We hope the incentives prove to be valuable in filling these courses, and we hope to learn more about what participants think of longer, multi-session trainings from the returned surveys.
